FAQs

You will need to provide information regarding your freelance status, including your UTR number, your Right-to-Work Share code/ Visa and if you are a sole trader or limited company.

No, there are no joining or membership fees, instead if placed on assignment both your pay and our fee are incorporated into the end client charge.

Once you are registered, we will create a WhatsApp group between yourself and the freelance team here at Yellowcat. This group enables us to get availability for our tracker, set up pencils and bookings as well as communicate with you at speed when it comes to general updates and booking enquiries.

Once you’re a registered freelancer of Yellowcat, our dedicated team will actively market your talents to our extensive network of clients, but there is no guarantees of work being offered.

Yes, we work with our clients across various employment services – from temporary PAYE jobs, to working through umbrella payment companies, to PSC and Limited companies.

Yes, we work with freelancers across France, Spain, Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, Czechia, Italy, plus many more. We have a partner in Workwell International who deal with all of our international compliance, as well as having the 6CATS APPROVED accreditation which credits us with full international compliance across 80+ countries.

Some contracts will fall either inside IR35 or outside IR35. This will impact how and when you pay tax. Being inside IR35 means your contract falls under the off-payroll working rules and HMRC sees you as an employee for tax purposes. If a contract is outside IR35, it means HMRC sees you as ‘genuinely’ self-employed and you can invoice directly for your services against the day rate offered. IR35 will determine your need to use an umbrella company, go through your own limited company or simply work as a sole trader. For more information explaining what this means for you, please click here.

You will receive the relevant terms of engagement contract, a key information document, a booking form and any other paperwork we need to supply to you.

Pencilling can be part of the freelance booking process and is widely used by clients. It is a way to temporarily secure a freelancer’s availability for an agreed period of time. However, at the pencil stage, there is no commitment, which means the client can release you from the pencil, should things change on their end. If you commit to a ‘pencil’, you are agreeing to give the client first refusal. If you get another offer of work elsewhere, you will need to inform the team member that ‘pencilled’ you and see if we can confirm you or not. If we cannot book you at this point, you are free to take the other booking. If we can book you and you’ve agreed to the pencil previously, you would be expected to take that booking over any other work.

Please call us if you have been offered other work on the days you are pencilled, we will then either confirm the booking or release you from the pencil as soon as possible.

A standard versus weekend rate is project and client dependent. It is usually discussed and agreed on prior to the booking being confirmed. If you would like to have a separate weekend rate please let us know and we can try to accommodate this.

Please let us know as soon as you’re feeling unwell. You can put a message into the WhatsApp group prior to 09:00am on the day you’re due to work. This allows us to inform the client on your behalf and help the client to find a replacement for the work if needed.

Yes there is. There’s a system we use called TimeTemp which is a platform used to log the days / hours you have worked that week. It is very important it is logged accurately so that the client can approve your work accordingly. You will be issued with a login for TimeTemp, which will also have instructions on how to use it. It is important you record the days / hours you worked by the Monday after the week before so that there is no delay in your payment when it becomes due.

If invoicing Yellowcat, your invoice needs to be made out to Yellow Cat Recruitment Limited and sent to yellowcat@dext.cc. It should include:

  • Your name
  • Your company name (if limited company)
  • Your company number (if limited company)
  • The client you worked for
  • Your job title
  • The period of work you are invoicing for
  • The days / hours you worked that week
  • A unique invoice number
  • An invoice date
  • Your address
  • Your bank details

Our payment terms vary from 14 days to 21 days in arrears from the work you have completed and that has been authorised by our client.

Please send your availability weekly to the WhatsApp group – this allows our freelance team to keep a record on our availability tracker and can alert you as soon as a new relevant opportunity comes through. You can also give us a call at any point and let us know how you’re getting on – we love hearing updates from our active freelancers.

Let our team know that you’re no longer freelancing, and you’ll be taken off our freelancer tracker.
